About Us

History

Charles Hull Contracting is a Western Australian company with nearly 50 years’ experience in the construction industry. The business started in 1965 when Charlie Hull, who had been operating his own bulldozer for a number of years, decided to expand his fleet and personnel to service the growing demand for his services.

Initially, the company cleared land for local farmers and the Forestry Department. Later, Charlie became involved in public works programs for the Department of Public Works, such as the Serpentine and Wungong Dams.

As the need arose, Charles Hull Contracting added scrapers to its fleet and worked on a number of metropolitan roads and subdivisions. In the mid-1970’s, when ALCOA commenced construction of the Wagerup Refinery, Charles Hull Contracting was involved in building the original plant site. Main Roads also required equipment, and Charles Hull scraper teams worked their way around the state.

Road and construction work was seasonal so, as mining became more prevalent in Western Australia, the company ventured to the Goldfields of WA to undertake the region’s second open cut mine at Norseman. After its success in Norseman, Charles Hull Contracting completed many open cut mines, including Paringa, the original major pit mine in Kalgoorlie before the “Super Pit.”

In recent years Charles Hull Contracting has completed various projects, including the Armadale Rd – Thomas Rd Freeway Extension, Hegdes Minesite Rehabilitation, McArthur River Airfield and Residue Mud Drying Areas at Wagerup, Pinjarra and Boddington.

Today Charles Hull Contracting offers a wide range of services in which we maintain our reputed ‘hands on approach’ to management. In this way we ensure any minor problems are resolved early and efficiently. With our large fleet of equipment and a continuing upgrade program, Charles Hull Contracting is a contractor with long term capabilities.
